Why ADAP?
Drug and alcohol relapse occurs for a variety of psychological and socioeconomic reasons, but there is one consistent pattern that can be attributed to its occurrence. Often times, the discharged resident fails to follow the continuing care plan. This continuum of care consists of but is not limited to:
- Work
- Living arrangements
- On-going therapy
- 12 step meetings
- Sponsor
- Working the steps
- Budget
- Physical health, nutritional awareness throughout the day
In most cases, continuing care plans are very thorough and are in the best interests of the recovering drug or alcohol addict. However, for a variety of the aforementioned reasons, those plans do not get followed-which often translates to a relapse back into alcohol or drug addiction. (see 12 Month Guarantee) The Addictions Directions Accountability Program addresses this problem through a 12-month program. Upon discharge, the resident has a yearlong accountability program that holds her accountable to the continuing care plan. It consists of everything from face to face talks; telephone calls; calls to collateral contacts such as families or employers as well as random UA’s. This system of accountability has been proven over the years, and we are excited to be able to offer this invaluable service to our residents in conjunction with Addiction Directions.
Permanent sobriety is achieved by knowledge, action, accountability, and a certainty that addiction is a chronic, lifelong, progressive disease which requires a lifelong commitment to recovery and accountability. Experience has shown that enhanced and ongoing monitoring, long after the loved one has left a rehab center, ensures a higher success rate for permanent sobriety. With the help of The Mark Houston Recovery Center for Women and Addiction Directions, we can help put your loved one back on the path to a cleaner, sober life.
